Why AIM?
To begin, here is important information on Art in Motion:
Art in motion is unlike any other creativity processing experience anywhere. Unique with holistic and intuitive techniques designed for the individual artist at any stage of his/her career, AIM guides you on your journey with implicit not explicit guidelines, helping you peel back layers to find your unique voice, to get out of "yourself" issues in order to create, getting past blocks and fears to get to the risk-taking work. AIM helps you tap into the river of your unconscious, to connect you with your muse, to let you honor the process and flow of your creativity.
We do not replace "Watercolor 101" in the traditional academic setting; we help facilitate your creative process in a deeper way integrating mind/body techniques using journaling, dream imagery, music, body stretches, and exercises in combination with hands-on art. We know that the best way to loosen up creativity to get creative juices to flow are a result of all this, thus we call our techniques "Art in Motion."
We know too, that research has proven that viewing art increases intelligence and that learning to "play" while in process stimulates creativity, thus, in a sense, AIM helps you learn to "play", loosen up your creativity and get the juices flowing.
The techniques used by Muse Coach/Creativity Processor Meredith Dalglish, M.F.A., listed in "Who's Who in American Art" help you tap into your "vein of gold", as Julia Cameron, author of "Artists Way," would say. Meredith is a catalyst to help you be the artist you want to be, getting unstuck, taking baby steps to achieve your goals, to be free to express your "joy" by not taking yourself too seriously, and by not being self critical while in-process, to accept where you are now without the "shoulds". Knowing that all people are born with unique creative gifts, we help through "play" to get more focused on your path, accepting things as they are by learning to let go to what is and move on from there. Play is inherent in all people, particularly children, but adults want to play also, go on journeys and adventures.
We submit that the best journey of all is the one you can take internally through self expression and using your imagination knowing that true harmony, balance, and peace exists because of this. Through the ages, books have been written and research has proven that this is the case.
ABOUT MEREDITH, Creativity Processor/Muse Coach
Meredith has been an artist for over 30 yeas, has gone through the traditional academic hurdles: received an M.F.A. and is listed in "Who's Who in American Art". She has traveled worldwide and has been an artist-in-residence not just in the US, most recently for 2 years at the Mendocino Art Center, Mendocino, CA. She has also had artist residencies in Holland, Scotland, and Brazil, and done research in China and Japan on women and their creativity. She is working on her book on creativity and the feminine spirit, has done art commissions nationally and internationally and offered her "loosening up creativity" workshops since 1992 when she founded the non-profit Institute for Women and Creativity, Inc. in South Florida. After 15 years, she is receiving a lifetime achievement award from this organization with a catalog of her work.
On the subject of AIM, Meredith says, "I am convinced that 'Art in Motion' is the missing link to successful creative self-expression for those who want a better relationship with their muse, to get past blocks and fears to create the more risk-taking work.
"Though my techniques are holistic and intuitive, they are also simple, ceremonial, and spiritual. A great appreciation of art and nature itself, found by being out in harmony with it, brings to all artists/creatives we work with a greater sense of letting go to the wonders and wisdom of one's self and the mysteries of one's creative process."
